I was at the end of my rope-my adorable Boston Terrier, Domino, was getting worse and worse whenever we went for a walk. Not only that, he was whiny and nothing seemed to ease his anxiety. When he wasn't barking uncontrollably at people passing by or other dogs he was digging up the yard I'd worked so hard on.
I loved my dog, he was a rescue and I thought maybe something had happened to him before he came to me. Obedience classes didn't seem to make an impression on Domino and yet I knew he wanted to please me.
The last straw was when we were out for a walk and he attacked another dog that was walking in the opposite direction. Fortunately, the victim was a large and mellow Labrador who was more amused than injured. I determined I was going to find a way to bring Domino back to sanity and happiness.
That's when I decided to look into dog training. It seemed that I needed a different approach. I found out that I was actually reinforcing the very behavior I was trying to stop! Telling him "come here" when he was doing something wrong let him know that by obeying me and coming to my side he was going to be punished. No wonder he was so confused and anxious!
Dogs have long memories, especially relating to consequences they don't like. If they are punished when they obey you they will quickly learn to disobey.
In a few days Domino had stopped pulling on his leash and I successfully taught him not to dig up the yard! Soon we could go for a walk and he would actually be friendly to other dogs-what a great change!
Finding a truly effective way of training my dog was a gift to both of us!
Domino is happier and I have my sanity back! I'll also be making good use of one of the bonus books on security training dogs. Now Domino will have a job and I'll feel much safer. Try this Proven Blueprint and see the results
